Psychotherapy and Coaching:
Collaborating with Children, Adolescents, and Adults
To Find Effective Paths Toward Problem Solving
When I was growing up, I was taught that I should confront my own problems and that it was a sign of weakness to request help. Inevitably, I struggled when I was faced with challenges that I could not resolve on my own.
Perceptive teachers, coaches, and therapists showed me the value of asking for advice and helped me find my way. I still needed to be self-sufficient, but that included my having the insight, humility, and courage to admit that I sometimes needed assistance to overcome difficulties.
Inspired by the mentors and role models who had aided me, I decided to become a psychotherapist. I wished to counsel others who were trying to navigate pathways through their own experiences.
I have been working with adults, children and families for over 25 years. Some of the challenges that I commonly treat include:
Anxiety and Anxiety Disorders
Addictions
ADHD
Bipolar Disorder
Career difficulties
Depression
Life transitions
Relationship issues
Stress reduction
Trauma and PTSD
My treatment approach frequently involves one or more of the following treatment models:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
Group work for those recovering from addiction
Equine Therapy (currently training for EAGALA certification)
Family therapy (Graduate of The Family Institute of Westchester, NY)
Somatic Experiencing (trauma & PTSD)
Psychodynamic Therapy
Coaching
About Kirk Dulaney LCSW
Introduction
After my clients and I get to know one another, we may decide that psychotherapy and coaching are the best approaches. We would then explore various therapeutic models and discuss how often we should meet. If, in addition, psychological testing or medical/pharmacological support seems appropriate, I will confer with specialists with whom I have long-standing relationships.
My goal is to secure for my clients the most competent and comprehensive assessments, recommendations, and care, and to guide them to the solutions they are seeking.
